Although not widely publicised and only just coming to light, Thurrock Council have been considering these proposals since mid-2014 at least. A number of Country Park events, planned in the current year, have already been cancelled and, as a direct result, numerous users of the Country Park are becoming increasingly concerned - rumours of Country Park closures and Ranger redundancies abound. Council documents that have emerged propose leaving the Country Park "unmanaged" and having "no events" in the future.
The Langdon Hills Action Group is a group of people concerned about the implications of these proposed plans for the environment and community. The Action Group was formed to:
• Fully investigate this evolving situation.
• Identify and communicate with those who have endorsed these plans.
• Challenge the perceived cost savings and fully document the implications. We find it inconceivable that these plans would ever have been endorsed if sufficient detail had been provided for analysis and the consequences had been properly investigated and declared.
• Consolidate the approach to Thurrock Council.
• Advise all impacted parties / media / coordinate the actions to be taken.
