We need your help to save the Country Park!
What you need to know:
- Address to write to: Thurrock Council Civic Offices, New Road, Grays, RM17 6SL
- Freedom of Information Act: Please state the following "I am writing this letter to request some information under the Freeedom of Information Act". The Council are thus obligated to reply to your question within 20 working days.
- Contact details: Please state your name and address on the letter to allow the Council to reply to you directly.
- Ask at least one question: Please express your concerns about what's going to happen to the Park in your letter, but don't forget to ask questions. We have some examples below, but if you put questions into your own words or think up your own, even better - the Council will have to write individual responses to your concerns rather than copy-and-paste answers!
Example Questions:
- Will the natural play area be maintained in a safe condition for my children to use? What happens if anything breaks?
- Does the Council seriously propose that one Ranger is sufficient to ensure the security of the Park and the safety of its users?
- Is the long term plan to sell the Country Park for housing development?
- Surely it's the Council;s responsibility to look after the wildlife on their land? How does the Council intend to meet their legal obligations to Natural England?
- Why are there no events? Has Santa in the Woods been cancelled?
- I'm concerned that dog mess and litter will become a major problem and health risk at the Park, how is the Council going to cover these basic services?
- What is the current per capita cost to ratepayers for Langdon Hills Country Park?
- How much would you have to raise per capita in Council Tax to save the Park?
MPs and Councillors
Still waiting to hear back from your Freedom of Information request to Thurrock Council HQ? Want to add a bit more pressure on Thurrock Council, or concerned they won't listen because you live outside of Thurrock? Langdon Hills Country Park is partly Essex County Council land (within Basildon Borough), this part of the Country Park is managed by Thurrock Council on behalf of Essex residents and they receive a fee from Essex County Council as a result.
